We had a wonderful stay at the Dogwood Motel. The cabin was cozy and clean (thanks to Kathy who was attentive and friendly!) and the owner, Norm, was an absolute gem. The grounds were well-maintained with beautiful flowers and a pristine koi pond. Norm encouraged us to check it out and feed the fish and gave great tips on where to eat nearby. There’s river access across the street which was fun for the dogs and included a quiet, secluded little beach where you could enjoy sunset and the sounds of the river. I would recommend the Dogwood Motel to anyone exploring the Umpqua Forest and hot springs or anyone just passing through this sweet little town.
I stayed here two years ago just driving through. Clean, comfortable, quiet. Had a great stay. I like it so much I got a shirt (there's a great fish drawing on the back) and now it's my favorite shirt, went online to see if i could buy a couple more and thought I'd leave a review.
WOW! What a gem! Clean rooms with a big smart TV, AC, and a kitchenette. These cabins have old cabin charm with modern comfort. You have to stay here! Booking directly from their website was a breeze. The property has big parking spots, beautiful flowers and koi pond. A short walk across the road and you’re on the bank of the North Umpqua. Plus the owners were so helpful. I love knowing I’m giving business to good people.
It was my first trip to the area, and I highly recommend Dogwood Motel. I look forward to the opportunity to return! We stayed in a cabin the first night and moved to the main townhome located in the back when our larger group arrived. The cabin was great - extremely clean bathroom, beds, and kitchenette, and very quick Internet (the whole property has great wifi). The property also has quick access to the river (wooden stairs but not steep), a koi pond (with lots of koi fish!), and a beautiful gazebo. The larger unit was great for 4-6 people. The townhome was very clean (including the sofas and tabletops), and has a beautiful kitchen. I loved sitting on the front porch in the mornings and the back porch in the late afternoons for relaxation and reading. Tez and Melissa were so very kind, and they had so many great recommendations for places to visit and see. I also got to meet regulars that stay at the Dogwood year after year for decade(s). It made for a really fantastic week, and I didn’t want to leave!
I loved my stay at the Dogwood! The rooms are super cute, it felt like stepping back in time, like I was vacationing in the 1960s, in the best way :) What a relaxing place to stay after a long day of hiking to see waterfalls nearby. The bed was super comfy. The koi pond is charming - the koi are huge! The owners are absolutely lovely. I'll definitely stay again if I'm in the area.
So enjoyed a weekend trip with my husband and infant daughter. The dogwood was perfectly situated between good restaurants in Glide and several beautiful waterfall hikes off hwy138. But what made this place extra special was the tremendous hospitality of the hosts. A wonderful couple with tremendous artistic talent and a passion for conservation, learned so much about wood ducks from them! 10/10 can’t wait to bring the rest of the family next time, and will definitely be recommending this place to friends.
If you're visiting the North Umpqua and need a place to stay, then this is it. Norman is the owner and is on-site tending an amazing koi pond as well as some beautiful flowers. He's a great guy to talk with and is certainly part of the charm of the place. We stayed in the more modern townhouse. It has a nice kitchen, dishwasher, washer/dryer, 3 beds with 2 baths. It's a great place tasty while visiting a beautiful part of the state.
Such a beautiful peaceful place. My boyfriend is here for work and my daughter and I joined him for the weekend. The koi fish are HUGE and soo cute. The landscaping is so pretty filled with flowers and possibly new berry plants. Surrounded by trees. Its so nice here. There's a bbq in the back for guests to use and a gazebo. Its so wonderful here. My boyfriend definitely likes and so do me and our daughter. Oh! I also seen a few hummingbirds which is also very nice.
